How To Do Proper Keyword Research
If you are building a web site with the idea of getting visitors through Google, or any other search engine, then you'll definitely need to do proper keyword research. Without the proper keyword research, you can waste time, money, and a lot of mental effort if you aren't careful. With the right keyword research, however, you can be on top of Google in no time. In this article, I'll go over the basics of keyword research, so people will have a much easier time finding your site. The first step is to determine the basic idea of your site, and express it in three words or less. For example, if you are a big fan of the stock market, and have lots of articles and charts and tutorials about how to make a killing, then your keyword phrase might be, "stock market." However, if you tried to get your site listed on page one of Google's results for "stock market," you might have quite an uphill battle. So what do you do next? Now you've got your basic keyword phrase down, you'll need to find more specific, less broad topics. For example, from the keyword phrase, "stock market," you might find, "stock market investing," or "stock market investing for college students," or something. Be sure to note both the traffic, and competition for each keyword. The traffic is the amount of people actually looking for that keyword, and the competition are the number of other websites that are about that particular term. Naturally, the higher the traffic, or the more people there are looking for that keyword phrase, and the lower the competition, or the number of pages about that particular keyword, the better. That ensures you the best chance of getting a lot of traffic without worrying about any competition. There are lots of different ways to find these specific keyword phrases. You can use Google's free keyword tool, which offers some pretty good data. There are also a few other free keyword research software you can get, which do a pretty good job. Of course, there are paid versions out there that do the best job. Two of the most popular, and most highly regarded, are Market Samurai, and Micro Niche Finder. Both of these are quite expensive, but do a great job of finding some excellent keywords. Next, after you've got chosen your keyword phrase, it's time to optimize your site. This means making sure that there's no mistake your site is about this keyword phrase. Use it in at least 2 percent of your text. Put it in your title, and in the H1, H2, and H3 tags as well. Also make sure you have at least one image that uses the keyword phrase as the alt tag. This will give your site the best chance of being found by others. If you put in enough effort ahead of time, your site should stand a pretty good chance of getting found by others. If you've got some decent content, that means that everybody wins.
