To people who have been collecting sea glass, they are very easy to spot. However, finding them can be quite tricky to beginners. Here are a few tips to help you.

Tip 1: Walk in one direction along the wrack line. Wrack lines refer to the line of debris left by the last storm or high tide. Check out spots that hold a lot of tiny glass. Sea glass debris sticks together. If you're lucky enough to find one, there's a huge chance that there a few others lying just around the corner.

Tip 2: Pass by the water's edge and look closely for possible glass debris. Walk slowly and sweep your eyes from side to side. Examine even the spots under water and check pockets for small stones. If you are on a rocky beach, look carefully in between large stones. Pieces of glass usually get stuck in between bigger debris.

Tip 3: After walking along the shore, it's time to retrace your steps. Turn from the water and walk for about 10-12 feet towards the opposite direction. Repeat this step until you have finished every spot on the beach.

Tip 4: Use bright sunlight to your advantage. This can help you detect glass easily because they reflect on gleams and glint. If you are on the hunt for glass during winter, the first few days of sunlight are most likely to yield good results.

Tip 5: Check out beaches that are located near streams, rivers, or creeks. These areas were commonly used as trash dumps. Bottles and other forms of glass were washed into the ocean or the lake making them the best location for people who are looking for the finest glass gems that have been polished by sand and waves through the years.
