How To Fix Marriage By Mort Fertel
You probably have photographs in your house of
you and your spouse.
For me, it brings warmth to my heart each time I
pass that silver framed back and white photograph
of my wife and me cutting our wedding cake. It's
been many years, but I'm transported back to that
time and place each time I catch of glimpse of
it.
There are other photographs of us in our home as
well, and each one is a pleasant reminder of our
love and our life together.
Remember the "Photo Opp" I wrote about in
Marriage Fitness? I hope you implemented that
practice (if not, then one of your exercises this
week is to review page 93 in Marriage Fitness and
put that idea to work).
Every couple has photographs of themselves, but
do you have a MARRIAGE COLLAGE?
That's my favorite frame...the one that houses a
patchwork of photographs of my wife and me. The
pictures are from different times and places.
It's interesting to see how much we've changed
over the years. And it's fun to recall at a
glance all the different things we've done,
places we've been, and years we've shared.
But I want you to make a MARRIAGE COLLAGE not
only so you can enjoy looking at it, but so you
can enjoy making it. That's your assignment for
the week...begin the process WITH YOUR SPOUSE of
making a MARRIAGE COLLAGE.
Involve your spouse as much as they're willing.
Hopefully, it'll be a project you do together.
But either way, make the collage. Begin rummaging
through your piles of photos, pick the ones you
want to include, cut them into fun shapes, get
out the glue and construction paper, and start
mounting.
Remember, the goal is not only to complete the
collage; it's to have fun together and engage
each other in the process.
Show each other pictures you come across. Discuss
which photos to include and where to place them.
Do the project over a glass of wine and a bowl of
snacks. Put some music on in the background and
enjoy each other's company.
Make your collage a marital project.
After you complete the patchwork, go together to
a "do-it-yourself" frame shop and finish the
project.
Finally, come home, get a hammer and picture
hook, and choose together where to hang your
collage. Once it's up, give each other a kiss,
and take a photo of yourselves in front of the
collage. Now you're ready to begin again.
Have a great week.
Warm regards,
