How To Fix The Ps3 Black Screen

The PS3 Black screen is a phenomenon noted by the epic nothingness that appears on the users screen

. Before you try any drastic measures, such as freaking out and calling Sony to send in your PS3, try these simple steps first to fix the PS3 black screen.

Fix the PS3 Black Screen-Tips

1)Try turning it off and on again- Put the system in standby (when it shows the solid red light) then filp the switch at the back, or if it is a slim, put it in standby then unplug it. Leave it for a 5 minutes then plug it in and turn it on.

2)If that doesn't work, check the cables:

Check for loose cables, if you find any put them back in.

Check to see if your video cable matches the video setting on the PS3, eg if the video setting is HDMI then make sure you are using a HDMI cable.

Use another cable to connect the PS3 to the TV. It could be that your cable is defective

3)If you are still getting the black screen, you can try resetting your PS3:

Put the PS3 in standby mode (when it shows the solid red light)

Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds until you hear the 3 beeps

4)If none of these things fix your PS3, maybe it's your TV, could be a problem with the TV's settings etc. Try using your PS3 on another TV. Just make sure that you change the videos settings to those compatible to the TV you will be testing on. If it works then, most likely, it is something wrong

Sadly if you are so unlucky that none of these things fix your PS3 then you have a more serious problem. So what can you do about it?

Well you are basically left with 2 options: send it to Sony, or get a good PS3 repair guide and repair it yourself.

If you send it to Sony, you will be charged around $150 (unless your PS3 is still under warranty), that's half the price of a new slim! Also you will have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your PS3 back. I would only recommend this option to those who's PS3s are still under warranty; if you open the PS3 you will void the warranty.
