How To Fly An Rc Helicopter: Tips For Beginners

Radio-controlled or RC helicopters are not easy to use especially if you are a beginner

. This is the best kind of entertainment available to helicopter enthusiasts. For beginners to wet their feet in helicopter flying, they need to first start with inexpensive and user-friendly RC copters which will give them the confidence and experience they require to fly the bigger and sophisticated helicopters. The toy RC copters are not the same as the hobby-grade variety of helicopters as the controls in the latter one are quite complex and you can easily purchase the individual parts of the hobby-grade helicopters. However, the toy RC copters can be badly damaged if they are hit, which is quite unlike the hobby-grade helicopters. If you wish to fly the hobby-grade RC copters, then you must start by practicing with the toy RC helicopters so that you understand and practice the basic start-up and flying techniques of the helicopters.

How to Learn to Fly the RC Helicopter?

1)Firstly, you must start by familiarizing with the remote controller of the copter. Two control sticks are available on either side of the helicopter. One of the stick is in charge with the throttle while the other is involved in controlling the rudder. There are also two dials which are used in adjusting the elevator trim and the aileron trim.

2)Plug in the copters pack of batteries and then walk a few feet away from the device. Start by slowly increasing the throttle of the heli so that it hovers a few inches from the ground. You should make sure that the copter hovers only in a single spot and does not drift.

3)In case, you find your copter drifting away to the side, you must start by adjusting the aileron trim. Likewise, keep adjusting the elevator trim, if you find the copter going backwards or forwards. You should make sure that you only land your toy copter by switching off the throttle and also by making slight adjustments so that the gadget does not crash.

4)Once you find that your helicopter is hovering steadily, you can make minor adjustments to both the aileron and the elevator trim as well. If you make any adjustments to the rudder, then you will find that the copter will change the direction of its flight.

5)Once you have become comfortable in steadily controlling your helicopter, you must start by increasing the altitude of your copter. Slowly, as you keep on getting the helicopter to a higher level, you will notice that the gadget will begin to have lesser ground effect. This means that it starts to have an enhanced air resistance and for this reason, you must make minor higher adjustments so that the copter generates similar movement when the copter was in ground level.

6)Slowly, once you understand the functioning of the copter, you can alternate between flying the copter at the ground and higher level.

RC helicopters are not at all a difficult object to fly and with the right training and practice, you are sure to master it in a quick manner.
