How To Get Over A Break Up - 3 Tips To Make The Pain Go Away

Your partner has left you and it is up to you to learn how to get over a break up to make the pain go away. I went through the same torture when my ex left me a few years ago. Luckily, I came across an excellent resource online that helped me through the pain and made it go away. Here are 3 tips that worked for me.

Tip #1: Understand What Is A Heartbreak

The first tip is to define and understand what is a heartbreak. You will only be able to tackle the issue after you lay out what a heartbreak means to you.

To be heartbroken (in my opinion), is the mark of an important phase in your life. First of all, it gives me the evidence that I am human and that I have a heart that is filled with love, desire, warmth and passion.

Next, it teaches me how to be even more compassionate towards myself and other people. Most of all, it allowed me to discover new and better ways of interacting with others so that my next relationship can blossom and be a success.

Take my definition of a heartbreak as a guide to write your own. Once done, go on to Tip #2.

Tip #2: Acknowledge Your Feelings and Grieve

Refer to your definition of what it means by a heartbreak and tell yourself, 'This is what I am feeling at this moment. I am right to feel this way.' By acknowledging how you feel brings you back to reality. At times, we tend to get numb over the pain we're feeling. However, if we leave the problem aside, there is a chance that it might re-surface again.

Once the feelings of hurt and pain comes back to you, grieve the loss of the person you love. It is normal, natural and healing. An important fact that you need to know about the emotion of grief, is that it tends to echo for a while. For example, one moment you will feel sad or angry, and then you will feel ok for awhile, and then your feelings of anger and sadness may surface again.

Rest assured that your subconscious is intuitively doing this to protect you from being too overwhelmed, and that your behavior is normal.

Tip #3: Take Care Of Your Well-Being

Figuring out how to respond with love to our body's needs, during a difficult period (after a relationship ends), is important. Your self-image is likely to suffer after being dumped. One key purpose of tending to your physical self is: So you can regain a sense of control over your life, as you focus on mending your broken heart. In fact, the better your body feels, the happier you feel too.
