I know how it feels to go through a breakup depression. You feel really hurt and numb inside, you don't feel like doing anything and somehow life seems to have very little meaning besides eating, drinking and sleeping.

Still, just like having a bad cold or fever, please remember that this too shall pass. And the only thing you can and need to do right now, is to do the best you can to be good and kind to yourself, as you move into and through the pain of losing someone you love.

Your heart will mend and heal. It's one of the wonders of the human spirit. And you truly will feel more human and alive as a result of going through this emotional experience. I guarantee it.


So, to help you with'how to get over breakup depression and move on with your life', here are my three simple advice..

Advice #1: Everyday, look for something really simple that you can appreciate (Looking at Nature really helps).

When I was going through break up depression, I had to focus back on the basics. It was the only thing I could do.

Hence, I gave thanks for the

air I breathed,

the beautiful blue sky and clouds,

the trees,

the breeze on my face

the rain,

the sound of children playing,

just simple things related to nature...

In fact, I played this game where I told myself that each time I felt a breeze, it meant that the Universe was saying "I love you" to me. It was my precious little secret with the Universe, and now I'm sharing it with you, in the hope that it helps you feel happier too.

Nature has a way of healing the heart - so get out of your house and take a short walk in the park. Appreciate how pretty and peaceful everything is. Remember that you are part of nature and appreciate that you are here for a purpose, just like all the plants, flowers, ponds, sky, etc.

Advice #2: Watch movies or clips that make you feel relaxed and happy to know that life goes on.

One of my favourite things to do while I was experiencing breakup depression, was to watch old movies that I loved and enjoyed as a child. I also enjoyed watching movies with beautiful women I admired in them.

For example, I liked to watch

Mary Poppins

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

How To Marry A Millionaire

Down With Love

Sabrina, etc...

I prefer to choose movies that are colorful, bright and filled with simple beauty. Movies and even short YouTube clips, are truly a great way to help distract yourself from whatever pain you are going through. Try it!

Advice #3: Look for the good in your breakup, even if there's only one thing.

In the beginning, I refused to allow myself to give thanks for the breakup. Perhaps some part of me felt that I would be betraying the relationship, if I were to agree and say something "bad" about it.

But, when I relaxed and just gave myself some quiet time to be honest with myself, I realized that there really were some good things about this breakup.

For example:

I could continue pursuing the career goals I had pushed aside during our relationship,

I could spend more time with my family

I came to realize what a joy and a blessing my friends were (both male and female friends),

I could date again (it could be fun and interesting to meet new people),

etc...


What are some of the good that has come as a result of your relationship breakup? Do you realize how wonderful your friends and family are? Do you realize how much you are loved by others besides your ex lover?

As before, I want you to remember that just like everything else in life, this breakup depression too will pass. Don't make yourself wrong for feeling whatever you are feeling. Losing someone you loved and cared deeply about requires a period of time for you to grieve and process. And there is no fixed time for grief.

So the real key of'How to get over breakup depression' is to cry when you feel like crying; scream into your pillows when you feel lost and abandoned; hit your pillows or mattress when you feel angry, disappointed, betrayed and let down. Just don't keep all your feelings bottled up inside. Doing that will only make you more depressed and even sick.

The only real thing in this world is love. You are loved and I wish you well on your journey through life.
