You can almost always get the same thing, or better, online for free and many of the security deals are just thinly veiled attempts to sell you a product that you may not even need and you've been landed with without having had the opportunity to compare deals.

Finally, and fifth, check out the price of calling customer services. Look out for broadband providers that have online help centres and public forums manned by staff - most good providers do - as well as cheap or free helpline numbers.
