How To Get The Most Out Of Your Daily Exercise Programme

Whether you're aware of it or not, it's a simple fact that each and every one of us carries out some form of exercise on a daily basis

. Looking at those people who attend, for instance, a London gym regularly, they'll be aware of when they're actually exercising, what they're doing as exercise and to some extent, what the benefits are.

For those who don't attend a London gym or make a distinct effort to carry out exercise themselves, such as by taking a morning jog or swimming 2 or 3 times a week, it can be slightly more intricate trying to find out exactly when you're carrying out exercise.

However, it may not be a substantial amount and you may not even realise that you're doing it, but unless you're sat in a room all day not moving, you're going to be carrying out exercise of some type. And of course, if you're in the latter group, you'll generally not be carrying out as much exercise as if you were in the first, but it's exercise nonetheless.

That's the key point about exercise - no matter how you're carrying it out, it's still exercise and therefore all you have to do when you're looking to get fit and healthy is to look at how you can get the most out of the exercise you do on a daily basis.

One of the most obvious ways to exercise without even knowing it is walking, as not only is it something most of us do to some extent every day, but it's also a fantastic way to exercise (according to Health Status, a person weighing 14 stone who walks at 3 miles per hour for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week will burn 970 calories a week).

What's even greater about walking is that with just a little thought, you can incorporate it more into your life, so that you burn even more calories. For instance, rather than get on the bus closest to your home, walk an extra 10 minutes closer to work, doing the same on your way home and you'll instantly be carrying out 20 minutes extra walking a day, which in terms of calories, is an additional 645 calories per week.

It's also worthwhile keeping in mind that just because you attend a gym doesn't mean you're getting the most from the time that you're exercising. Yes, you're likely to have a better idea of what you're doing than someone who doesn't exercise as intensely, but it's still recommended that you look at your programme and see if you can improve it so that you're getting the most from it.

We all exercise to some extent and just because you're not attending a gym regularly doesn't necessarily mean that you're not exercising. The most important point to understand is that you become aware of when you are exercising so that you can look at it and see if you can tweak and improve it so that you make the most of the time you spend exercising each day.
