How To Install Shower Panels

If you live in an older home, you may not have a bathroom that has current or updated back walling along where your shower is

. If this is the case, than you could have mold and mildew from your shower, and the steam that is created from taking a hot shower. Eventually that mold and mildew will create health issues for you and your family. Here we have broken down the steps to install shower panels along the wall to give you water proof shower walls.

1.Secure Bathtub

The first thing you want to do before installing the new shower panels is make sure the tub is securely installed and that all of the plumbing is set up. If you have the opportunity to have a professional plumber come out and do this part for you, its probably best.

2.Inspect

This is going to determine how many steps you will have overall. If there is damage along the wall where you plan to install your shower panels, than you are going to need to replace the drywall, or whatever type wall you have back behind your shower. If you install the panels to damaged or wet walls your panels will not stay in place.

3.The fit

In this step you are going to cut and fit the panel that will be placed around 4 pipes and valves. You want to wait and do this after the spigot and valve handles are taken off, and after that the shower head will be a section of pipe that will stick out of the wall, just enough to see it. You need to be sure that the corner is square the panel will fit tight in the corner. The fit for all of this will be crucial so that when you get your shower panels up; there wont be any reason to take them down to readjust pipes and plumbing. If you foresee a future issue you could place a trap door or handle in place of a few of the shower panels for easy access.

Once you have all of the main parts taken care of and you have measured your shower, you will need to cut your shower panels to fit accordingly along the shower walls. After this, you can begin to install the panels using a caulking gun, run the caulk along the edges to ensure the shower panels stick into place.
