How To Make An Effective Personal Development Strategy
A plan for personal development is a major step geared towards stress reduction and being more fulfilled and happier
. But when do you differentiate an ordinary wish list from your plan? Two things: written goals as well as deadlines. After you go over the steps, you can create a personal development strategy, uninterrupted for at least half hour. You have to remember that the amount of time you invest in your strategy today will result to how effective your strategy is working for you, so it is very essential for you to read it every day once written.
What You Need to Do for Making an Effective Personal Development Strategy
Identifying Areas for Personal Development
As many as you can, list down areas of your life which you want to develop and then encircle three areas which are most important for you. If you try to work at too many areas at once may overwhelm you and you don't want that to happen. Areas can be anything but they would ideally reflect your life's different aspects. Areas you need to consider may include emotional, financial, physical, spiritual, social development, and intellectual.
You have to determine the current state of the 3 areas which are most important to you. You can only measure your progress when you have an idea where you started from. Some things in life can easily be measured. For instance, eliminating or reducing your smoking habit may be measured through the number smoked cigarettes, while losing weight through a scale. In other personal development areas, such as becoming trusting in your relationship, may be measured through the use of ten-point scale.
Setting Goals
You need to have a goal for each of 3 areas which need be neither too difficult nor too easy goal. Measurable goals are important that will result to sense of accomplishment upon reaching the.
State your reasons how important these goals are. Make it specific and descriptive. It will help you describe your feelings about your life and yourself and how life would differ when you accomplish these goals.
Writing down any consequence of failure to follow your goal in personal development strategy is important too. Talk about how you would feel about yourself and what life would be in the near future if you fail to work on your personal development on the 3 areas as well as what life would be if you will not work on your goals today.
Setting up Deadlines
Write down dates and mark them down on your calendars, virtual and tangible, on the dates you plan on reaching your goals.
You can set 3 mini-goals as your motivating force in reaching your 3 main goals in each of the areas and set deadlines for these mini-goals as well. Plan on celebrating on these mini-goals for simple but immeasurable development like smoking for one week towards smoke-free month.
Remember that in an effective personal development strategy, you plan a course of action; you set your goals and your deadline in order to achieve them. One failure on these considerations would lose your strategy's effectiveness. If you want your life and yourself to improve, work on the personal development strategy now.
