There are a lot of people in the wood pellet production business but you do not have to take it that far. First you will need to get a wood pellet making machine. Some eager folks try their hand at making their machine as well but this is not always ideal and there are few properly working homemade wood pellet making machines in action today. There are very few if any actually productive homemade pellet making machines in action yet.

Once you have purchased your pellet making machine, the next step is to gather the materials you will need. You can use anything from straight softwood or hardwood to sawdust. Many people prefer to recycle as much as they can and do so by using waste wood to make their wood pellets. Other ingredients you could try using to make your wood pellets include everything from corn cobs and corn stalks to paper and distiller grain.

It is completely up to you what medley you decide to concoct but for sure the straight woods are the best to work with and produce the highest quality results. If the supplies you are using are too large to fit in the machine properly you will have to size them down. Instead, you want to use a chipper or hammer saw to reduce the size of the materials to use. It all depends on the size of machine you have as well as the size of the supplies as to how much you will need to resize them.
