How To Pack Your Cargo For Shipping

When you're going to send something to a client via a courier company

, it is important for a number of reasons that you pay attention to how you pack your cargo for shipping. A New Mexico courier service will tell you that packing your shipment correctly will help make sure that your shipment doesn't get damaged, make sure that it doesn't get lost while in transit, and will finally make sure that you can get insurance coverage if that package still happens to get damaged despite your best packing efforts.

Every courier company is going to have their own set of guidelines for packaging shipments. It is important that you follow these guidelines in order to have a positive experience with the courier company. These guidelines may differ a little depending on which courier company you actually do business with, but the guidelines are going to present you with a fairly generalized set of rules.

The first thing that most of these guidelines include is a labeling category. Courier guidelines are always very strict about the labeling of packages, because it is errors in this area which most frequently cause packages to go astray. Guidelines include things like making sure that all shipping labels are printed on paper that will not run if it gets wet or enclosed in plastic envelopes, and that the packages display no address information other than the address which you are shipping to.

Next comes the guidelines which involve making sure that the cargo itself doesn't get damaged. The first of these is always that breakable cargo must be packed carefully with something to fill the empty spaces within the package. This means that anything breakable should be carefully packed in either styrofoam or bubble wrap, or some other suitable filler.

The packaging itself is also usually covered. The boxes should be something that is heavy enough to contain the load of the cargo that you are packing in them. This means that if you're packing something which is heavier than the box can easily bear, you might think about double boxing it, or even moving up to a more heavy duty shipping container like a crate. Also, anything which might leak, spill, or otherwise spread beyond its initial container should be sealed in plastic so it cannot. If you follow all of those guidelines, and any others which your courier names, you should have no problems shipping your goods.
