Dharmasthala, a renowned temple town, lies in the South Indian state of Karnataka

. The illustrious temple at Dharmasthala is the Sri Manjunatheshwara temple devoted to the Hindu divinity Lord Shiva. This temple has many peculiarities that draw quite a lot of people each day. Dharmasthala is situated at a distance of 300 km from Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka. Also referred as the Garden City, Bangalore is connected well with Dharmasthala by road. The Bangalore Mangalore Highway connects the cities of Dharmasthala and Bangalore. You can travel by bus from Bangalore to Dharmasthala. Journey by bus is the best way as it takes only around 3 hours. The places covered during the journey from Bangalore to Dharmasthala are Nelamangala, Yadiyur, Channarayapattana and Maranhalli. There are lots of hospitals, restaurants and petrol pumps on the route. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operates many direct bus services from Bangalore to Dharmasthala. Buses are perfect for individual passengers and backpackers since the ticket fares are within your means. State buses are available from Dharmasthala bus stand to Bangalore which charges Rs 400 to 600.

You can also hire a cab from Bangalore to Dharmasthala which may take about 3 hours. The fare of cabs may range from Rs 7 to Rs 14 per kilometer depending on the vehicle you choose. Travelling in cabs is ideal for families or groups. Dharmasthala does not have railway station. The nearest train stations of Dharmasthala which has direct trains to Bangalore are Bantawala (BNTL) and Mangalore Junction (MAJN). There is also no airport in Dharmasthala and the closest airport is Bajpe Airport, Mangalore which is about 54 km away from the town.
