Losing your wallets can be one of the most frustrating and embarrassing moments that can happen

. It can also create many major problems like identity theft, loss of money and private details. Lots of cases of identity theft have been reported in the US over the past decade. Most of them are due to pick-pocketing. Precautionary steps have to be taken in order to prevent wallet from getting lost. Some of the must do steps are given below.

1. Call your local lawyer.

2. Contact the police and file a case.

3. Contact your bank authorities and initiate account freezing procedures.


4. Contact the social security authorities and report the incident.

5. Initiate replacement procedures for the lost cards and permits.

Contacting your local lawyer can be helpful as he/she is well thorough with law and order. He could advice you the necessary steps that have to be taken. Reporting the case to the nearest police station is very necessary as they will help you in tracking down the theft and takes essential procedures to prevent identity theft. If you do not act quickly, it will result in loss of your valuable money, credit and debit cards. The thief can also misuse your social security card to conduct crime and blame it upon you.

Initiating an account freeze is also necessary. Call the bank authorities and report that you have lost your cards. Give them the necessary information like credit or debit card number and your identity proof. As soon as they receive the required information they will initiate the procedures for account freezing. This will officially disable the card from use at any bank, ATM or Payment centers. By this way your valuable money is safe inside the bank.

Social security cards are much of a concern. They are the main causes of causing identity theft. Thieves use it to commit serious crimes and offenses, but the blame will be upon the person who owns the card. It is advised that you keep your social security card safely at home. If necessary you can carry an attested copy of the card.
