The most common thing people complain is about their poor memory
. Most of the people are unable to recognize the faces of their friends and family members when they meet them after a long period of time and most of them complain about not knowing the names of their family members and colleagues. They may recall faces of the people but find it difficult to remember names of people whom they know which is a big deal for most of the employees as they have to meet different people at different times and may be they meet them once in a month or in more or less time, they may forget the names which is a big issue for them as it will effect their career. Most of the people take it in negative sense and feel bad if you continuously recall their names which are not their actual names.
The problem of forgetting names is a common one which is experienced by almost all the people in different phases of life. This problem is not too big which cannot be solved.
I will try to explain two basic things in this part. It can be easily used to recall the names when we here the other person speak. This will enable you all to remember the names of different people by just listening to them; this is most successful skill which is very beneficial uptil now. The techniques or methods are as follows:
1.The Observational system
2.The Association system
In 1979 a test was taken by the scientists Goldstein in which people were shown a number of photographs of womens faces, magnified snowflakes and ink bottles. All of the 14 images were shown to the 14 people who participated in the test 3 seconds and were then recalled after 48 hours. It was found faces were easily recognized rather than ink bottles and finally snow flakes.
The Observational system
When meeting the people you need to observe them keenly and you store some points of his or her personality in your mind so that you may save their names in your memory according to their characteristics. For example Maryland it can be easily broken in to Mary and Land so it is not very much difficult to remember the name.
Another name Indiana johns in this word it can be split in to two one in India and second one in Johns so it can be easily remembered by anyone as India is a country and John is a common name.
The Association system
In it you make an image of that person according to his physical characteristics and later you associate the name with those images. It may be time consuming and hectic but by the end of the day you will observe that your linking had proven fruitful and you can now easily remember the names and the faces of the people.
By applying these techniques you will easily remember the names and faces of your colleagues without the tension that after how long you meet them.
