Blackheads; those ugly, dirty looking spots on our faces that just seem to pop up out of nowhere
, no matter what we do. How to remove blackheads without leaving scarring? And how can we "dump" acne once and for all, so that we don't even have to worry about those nasty blackheads to begin with?
Getting rid of blackheads may seem like it can never happen, but that's not true. Some products on the market, including those that exfoliate and contain benzoyl peroxide, can be very effective on how to remove blackheads without leaving scarring. And, these methods treat other types of acne breakouts pretty effectively, too.
Of course, some of these things can be pretty harsh, so if you have particularly sensitive skin, you'll want to use a method whereby you certainly take care of how to remove blackheads, but protect your skin at the same time. Gentler products, such as those that contain salicylic acid, may effectively clear skin by unclogging pores and exfoliating skin on a regular basis so that acne can never take hold.
Are you prone to acne?
Especially if you're in a particularly hormonal stage of life, such as if you are a teenager or in your middle years and about to go into menopause, acne can certainly rear its ugly head simply because it's encouraged to by the hormonal fluctuations in your body. Other things that can also exacerbate acne include diet, less than stellar hygiene, certain use of makeup products, and excessive oil production in the body.
Some of these things you can help, and some you can't. However, you can certainly give yourself a leg up, so to speak, when it comes to taking care of how to get rid of blackheads by taking care of those things you can help.
Good hygiene helps - but be gentle
Depending on where you're experiencing most of your acne breakouts, washing your face or showering on a regular basis, at least once a day and sometimes twice a day, can help prevent breakouts. When you wash, use a mild soap or a cleanser especially formulated for acne, and wash GENTLY, to avoid irritation. If you irritate your acne, you'll only make breakouts worse and you can cause scarring, too.
Watch the diet
No, we're not talking about going on some fad diet. But if you eat a lot of greasy food, or if a lot of your diet is comprised of junk food, you're giving acne a perfect environment to flourish in. Focus on fresh, healthy foods, lean proteins, and plenty of fruits and vegetables to help support your skin so that it can heal from current acne breakouts and avoid further ones.
Cutting down on the grease and oil in your diet can also help minimize breakouts, since oil provides a perfect medium for them to occur in. DO include small amounts of healthy fatty acids like omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated oils, though.
