How To Serve In Tennis

As many people have said, tennis is not the easiest game in the world

, but it does not mean that anybody cannot learn tennis and become good at it. Effort and hard work is needed to master this game. Whether you aim to become a professional or not, here are some tips to improve one of the most basic things in tennis: the serve.

1.Try to stand as close as possible to the baseline, but of course do not step on it. Do not be afraid if you step inside after you hit, because it is not a fault as long as your leg does not step before you hit. Try not to waste the distance advantage no matter how small just because you are afraid to step on the baseline.

2.Hold the ball with all your fingers in 1 hand and throw it higher than your arm and your racket stretched up. This is to give you time to prepare and allow you to hit at the highest point of impact. Hitting the ball too low means that it reduce the angle for you to hit down, because the net will be in the way. You will be forced to hit straight and let the gravity pull the ball down which will be harder for the ball to land at the correct area.

3.Do not throw the ball to the back; instead throw it straight up or to the front a bit. The reason is simple. It is much easier to hit the ball that flies straight above you or in front of you a bit, rather than hit the ball that flies towards your back. Hitting to far at the back will also cause the ball to go up, as if you are playing badminton.

4.Do not use power when you learn how to serve. Let your body remember the correct swing first. After that you can increase your power slowly. Remember, it does not matter how strong your serve is if it never land at the correct place.
