Becoming a police officer is a dream of some people and other just simply join it to enjoy fringe benefits of the job

. Becoming a police officer is not possible for everyone. There are some requirements, which one has to meet in order to join police force. Police force comes under law enforcement institute and is therefore a very challenging and diverse job. Every state has different career requirements and opportunities, but there are some standardized ones which are common everywhere and one has to meet those along with other state requirements to qualify as a police officer. -The first thing you need to have is t least high school diploma, anything more than that will certainly give you an edge on other applicants. Police force has developed has developed a fast track scheme for those who have university degrees in accounting, math, behavioral sciences and so on.

-The second most important thing is your physical and mental fitness. If you are still doing your high school and wants to join police force, the best way to maintain the fitness is through participating in schools sports program.

-If you have been the part of any military force or any other security service, you can also apply for police force. The only thing required in that case is your clean sheet of conduct throughout your job career.

-He who qualifies for police force, their background checks are carried out. So, if you ever dream of becoming a police officer, keep yourself away from all sort of youthful indiscretions. Your any injudicious acts in the past may hinder your way to join the police force.

-You need to pass few exams and clear some tests before appearing in front of the interview panel. You need to take a written exam called police officers written exam for the civil service. You can get information regarding test from near recruiting center. After passing this exam you will have to pass the physical exam also. Physical exam focuses on your agility, hearing, vision, strength etc.

-The tests you need to clear include lie detector test and drug test. To qualify for the final interview and written test, you need to clear these tests. It is worth mentioning here that you as a police officer subject to take drug test randomly during your employment period.

-After passing the initial written police officers test and clearing all the tests, you will qualify for an interview with an authority figure of the force. After clearing the interview, you will have to take final test that will evaluate your personality. This personality test is for the sake of analyzing personal traits, such as integrity, responsibility and judgment.

The recruitment process is mostly directed by states civil service, which is responsible for the appointment of sheriffs, local and state police officers and detectives.
