How To Stop Your Dog From Chewing Up Your Armrest
Dog chewing problems can be very frustrating
Dog chewing problems can be very frustrating. Besides barking problems, this is one of the most common behavioral problems that owners often face.
In order to help you through this problem, here are some basic solutions to some of the most common problems facing dog owners today.
Chewing on Chairs
If you find that your dog is always chewing on furniture and chairs, there are many things that you can do to stop this. One quick thing to try is to use either use plastic furniture guards on the areas that your pet likes to chew, or spray a product called Bitter Apple on the furniture.
Eating the Vehicle
Some dogs really like to chew while they're in vehicles. This chewing could be focused on an armrest, a floor mat, or the seat. One way to keep them occupied while driving around is to have more toys in the vehicle, or in the worst cases keep them in a dog carrier.
Destroying the Garden
If you find that your dog is destroying your favorite garden, or digging in the plants and chewing on them. You could either put up a physical fence around them to keep them separated, or simply retrain them it is not okay to do this.
Mouthing Shoes
Many dogs chew on to shoes, because the owners unknowingly train them that it is okay to do so. You should never give your dog an old shoe to chew on because they will soon learn that it is OK to chew on new shoes. Do not give your dog chew toys in the shape of any household items that you do not want them to chew on.
Boredom is probably one of the main causes of dog chewing problems. Obviously the solution is to keep them preoccupied with other activities. This could be things like new toys, or more frequent walks around the block.
Even though dog chewing might be a very frustrating thing for you to deal with, know that there are some very basic solutions that you should be able to use to solve it.
