I was so interested to learn how to take care of bunnies because my brother gave me a pair as a birthday present. They really look cute and I easily got fond of them.

On the contrary, they are not like stuff toys that I can cuddle all the time and throw aside when I don't feel like playing with them anymore. Getting bunnies as pets require commitment. You will take care of them and part of it will be teaching them discipline. If you neglect caring for them they will smell up your home and can become scared of human contact.

They are not social animals but they can be easily attached to their human owners. Ever since these little friends came into my home, they became wonderful additions to my family. Even my kids are so fond of them. Its a good idea to make sure that you have all member of your family interact with your pet so they are familiar with everyone.

I found some materials on the net that give guidance on how to properly take care of rabbits. I was glad because I found out that they only require minimal maintenance.

They can live indoors and outdoors. Rabbit owners have the prerogative of caging them inside or outside the house. In my case, I chose not to place their cage outside because they might be attacked by some of the animals around while we are sleeping. To keep them protected, I chose to place their cage inside my house. I have a spare room near the kitchen which is not in use. There is where I would usually leave them when they are in their cage.

Everything I learned about rabbit care, I passed on to my kids because it is crucial that they also know how to handle them properly. I also got my whole family involved in this matter. I did that not only to protect my pets, but them as well. Rabbits know how to defend themselves by using their sharp teeth. I was afraid that if one of my family members accidentally hurt them, they will attack back by biting.
