What is Anchor Text?

Anchor Text is the text label, or link title given to your links, in other words it is the clickable words the users see's as a link. The words used in your anchor text can be used to determine your pagerank. By placing keywords in the anchor text you can help make your pagerank go up. Overdoing it with loads of keywords all packed in will have an adverse effect on your pagerank.

Anchor text is ranked highly in search engines, because the label text is normally relevant to the landing page. The objective of search engines is to provide highly relevant search results and because anchor text links normally land users at pages with relevant content to the link, they naturally create a better PageRank

How To Optimize Your Anchor Text

1. Create internal links that include keywords in your anchor text. These keywords should be the main keywords for the landing page.

For example, if the page title and keywords are "how to blog for cash using clickbank", then make the anchor text a simplified form of that, something like "blog for cash with clickbank"

2. Create external links, and back links this way too.

3. Include the "title" tag in your link, and match it to the anchor text, this add's even more keyword solidarity to the link.

4. DO NOT create sentences composed only of keywords. Google looks at how the sentence is formed in it's attempt to rank a page, misformed keyword rich sentences get a lower page rank, while sentences which make sense and still contain a few keywords will rank higher.
