To top it all off these pests are also dangerous with their poisonous stings and acidic bites, and can kill a person that is allergic to them. That means that when ants come into your house, it is your job to put up their eviction notice and one way to do that is through the use of ant traps. Ant traps are useful little devices that allow you to take on a whole colony of ants, and not lift a finger to do it. Well almost not lift a finger, but you get the idea.

Ant traps work a lot like the bait stations that are used in against ants, Infact they are essentially the same thing. Ant traps lure the give off a smell that lures the ants to the trap and then feeds them insecticide. Also like the ant baits, the traps dont kill the ants on the spot, but instead allows them to head home and take the insecticide with them to their colonies, which become infected. These traps are effective in that they can relatively easily kill of a whole ant hill by themselves and give you less work to do on your part. The best part is that if you have boric acid at your house, you can make your own ant trap which is just as useful as any commercial one.

There are a few problems with ant traps. One major problem is the smell. Ant traps give off a horrible smell that will feel up whichever room it is in with its foul odor and make the room almost inhabitable. Another issue with the ant traps is that the poison that is used in the traps is dangerous for humans and other animals alike. That means that you have to be very careful where you put the insecticide so that it is out of the reach of children and pets but is still in the area where the ants roam. Also once you have began using this method on the insect you have to throw out all the food that the insects touch immediately, because if they have eaten the trap bait then it is highly likely that some toxic residue will be found on the food as well.
