My daughter is a horse lover. She'll do anything to look after her horses as well as she can. (She doesn't know half the time I pay for that care though!) ) 2 years ago, we bought her an ex race horse that she has since trained to become a jumping horse. As you know Horsey people, race horses brought up the layout & didn't do well in the cold, so now we had to build a small horse barn for Cara's Star. Well to cut a long storey short I've a small stable set of plans & went to work building this shed.

It has since grown into a pretty masterpiece & now we've a stable 3 horses, a feed room & tack room. The barn has a nice overhang, so rain doesn't come in as easily as before.

Looking for a # of small plans horse barn? Well as you probably know by now, there are a lot of resources on the net, if not, just do a search for them on Google, & you'll find some. Many will claim to be free, & they're most likely but I'd avoid that because they really compromise in detail & workmanship.

We built our mini horse barn (which my daughter first called it) out of pallets. I managed to get a good deal on a friend's wood yard gain. If I bought the wood through him, he'd cut it for me. I knew the exact length because of the cut diagram that came with the plans so it was easy for him to follow. The rest of the materials I bought from the local hardware store, including a tin roof.

I had an electrician organise electricity, but the rest I did myself, including digging a 20-yard line & downspouts, so the barn would've running water. If you're thinking of doing this on their own, & you'll have water & electricity, you need to build as close as possible to the nearest point, otherwise you'll have a big task on their hands.

I adapted the plans to be big enough for a horse & allowed room for expansion down the line. Last year we put on a new team without much hassle & I still used the same set of plans.

Basically my job was made much easier because I had such a thorough set of small horse loading plans. They weren't fancy but they cover all the details of the project. I knew exactly what I had to do at each step.

I spent most of the building on my own & my daughter helped with the final varnishing & painting the doors. Remember to keep things simple. A set of relaxation shed plans can do the job equally well.
