How can You Reduce Cholesterol? Easily by Following these Simple Steps


Exercise regularly, eat healthily and relax a little. There you have it; Simple right? Well, actually; Yes, it is and if you have to ask yourself, how can you reduce cholesterol, follow these 3 principles and you'll give yourself a solid footing on which you can achieve a healthy, cholesterol free body.

Now you'll probably have noticed that there has been no mention of Statins yet. That is quite deliberate and I'll touch on that issue briefly. Statins are a group of prescription drugs that work by slowing the process of an enzyme in the liver that is responsible for producing cholesterol. Why is this necessary? Because your liver is responsible for producing a large proportion of your bodies cholesterol levels and if you can stop it from working at its most efficient rate then you can reduce cholesterol levels.

Side Effects of Statins.


Of course there are side effects, it is a drug after all. This is why I refrained from headlining with these drugs as a recommended method. Statins have caused some of its users, headaches, stomach problems, flatulence, diarrhoea and vomiting. They can also cause rashes and myopathy, a muscular disease. When I ask how can you reduce cholesterol, these reasons are why I justify leaving Statins on the flank. Thankfully, if you follow the exercise, healthy eating and low stress approach then they shouldn't really be necessary. .


Healthy eating is imperative and is my certified method to prevent cholesterol from clogging your arteries. Cut down (not cut out) on your consumption of saturated fats right now. Cholesterol loaded foods, such as eggs are not to be eaten too frequently either, but recent studies have shown that saturated fats are much worse than simply foods high on cholesterol. Eat foods high in fibre, fruit, vegetables and fish, eat them regularly and eat them with gusto as they'll protect your heart immensely.

Exercise, is, as the Yanks love to say, "a no brainer". The benefits of regular exercise are far more reaching then just as a means to achieve low cholesterol. You'll look better, feel more confident and you'll blatantly just feel happier about yourself. There is no greater feeling (well, not many at least), then being able to fit into that old pair of trousers you long ago discarded in the cupboard when they started to cut into your midriff. However, more importantly and more relevantly to this article it helps your body naturally increase your levels of HDL, a healthy form of cholesterol. This type of cholesterol will actively reduce the amount of LDL, the bad form of cholesterol by removing it from your vital organs and returning it to the liver.

Stress, as an added benefit, can also be significantly reduced by exercise. Stress contributes to high cholesterol levels and is probably the most difficult issue to effectively combat. A high pressure job and hectic home life are often not easily changed but it will greatly help if you can try to relax at home if possible for a period each day. It will greatly help if you can achieve a solid, unbroken 8 hours sleep a night as well.
