How to Build Your Own Stun Gun
A stun gun is a non-lethal electrical device used as a self-defense weapon designed to stop or incapacitate an assailant by delivering a high voltage shock of electricity to his/her body.
The shock causes the assailant's muscles to seize and he/she will collapse and become incapacitated for a few moments. This gives the stun gun user time to get away from the assailant.
Stun Guns are can be purchased in the U.S. if you are over the age of 18 and can be carried in most states legally, except for Illinois, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and several cities which include Annapolis, MD, Baltimore, MD, District of Columbia and Philadelphia.
It is extremely dangerous to entrust your safety to a homemade device, therefore it's not recommended to build your own stun gun. However, the following are instructions to build a stun gun using a disposable camera that will generate less that 1/4 of the voltage of a professionally made stun gun.
Steps to build a stun gun:
Using a screw driver open the back of a disposable camera.
Remove the batteries from the camera.
Locate the miniature light bulb that is used as the camera's flash.
Remove the camera flash to the full extension so that the wires connecting it will allow. If the wires are soldered in place cut them with the wire shears. If the wires are wrapped around contact points, then un-wrap them very carefully.
Cut two 3-4 inches equal lengths of copper wire.
Wrap each wire to the wires that was connected to the flash bulb.
Apply some soldering wire to the joints and melt it into place with the soldering iron. This will create longer wires protruding from the camera. These wires should never touch, but should be within a few inches of each other at all times. Thicker and stiffer sheathed copper wiring will make it easier to accomplish this. Place this aside for the moment.
Next, cut the plastic cover of a five star binder free using scissors keeping it in a single piece if possible.
Place the thick plastic coating on the camera in order to sheath the exposed circuitry and cut holes for the flash and shutter buttons on the camera, then place the batteries back in place.
Glue the covers in place. The unit will now look like a thick appointment planner with two stiff wires sticking out of the top.
Pressing the shutter button will cause sparks, which can be used as a stun gun.
As stated above, building your own stun gun isn't recommended because you can easily harm yourself and it may not be reliable. Buying a stun gun is recommended because they are affordable, built safely, and will not harm you if used correctly.
