How to Choose High Heels

Women's shoes come in so many different styles that sometimes it's so hard to decide what you like the best, let alone what shoes look best on you

. When choosing high heels, here are some things to consider.

Your first consideration should be finding high heels that are appropriate for the occasion. If you are going to a wedding, for instance, slick black heels may not be appropriate, whereas they probably would be fine for a funeral.

Next, decide what you are wearing the heels with. Ladies' fashion seems to dictate that people notice women's shoes a lot more than they notice men's, which means your shoes need to look good with your dress. Black shoes are classic, and tend to look formal. They go with most colours. But if you want to look more summery, or less formal, another colour like pink or white might be perfect.

The type of heel you choose should be based on several factors. First, how tall are you? If you are above average in height, you probably don't look as good in heels over an inch or two high, especially if your date is about the same height as you are. And if you're short, naturally higher heels will make you look taller.

Another thing to consider when choosing the type of heel is your body type. If you are slim and have narrow feet, stilettos will look good on you. But if you're a fuller figure, or have wide feet, platforms or wedges might be more appropriate.

Finally, when you find a pair of heels you like, be sure to try them on. Stand up in them and walk around. If they feel uncomfortable at all, or you wobble on them, they don't fit right. Don't rest until you find a pair of heels that feel good.
