How to Create a Macro in World of Warcraft
Basics on World of Warcraft Professions
In this article, will cover the basics on tradeskills or professions within the World of Warcraft gaming universe.
What is a profession exactly?
A profession is a largely trade based set of skills that players can use to gather resources, (mining/herbalism), or incrementally learn to make new items as well. These tradeskills are particularly handy at the start of any expansion as a lot of times the best way to quickly gear up and be raid ready is to create the new patterns from dungeons. These "crafted" pieces of gear can usually assist in making the first starting bosses fairly easy until raid gear can be acquired.
For example with engineering, blacksmithing, or tailoring many starting epics are available for most classes. For the most part these crafted items will be better than the heroic dungeon gear that a player would otherwise start out the harder dungeons or raid instances in.
There are 3 gathering professions that a player can learn that feed directly into other crafting professions. Herbalism, which entails gathering the herbs necessary to create the pots and flasks that accompany any good raid group into boss fight situations.
Mining which is gathering the ore, minerals, gems and stones from their respective ore veins or deposits. The fruits of mining can be used by several tradeskills, but the main one is the making of heavy plate armory, or blacksmithing.
Skinning which is gathering the hides from various beasts in the World of Warcraft for hides, leathers, and scales. These are mostly used in leatherworking, or making the lighter armor for hunters, rogues, and other light armor classes.
Crafting Professions
Alchemy is probably the most used, and most taken for granted tradeskill available to players. This profession gives you all those fun pots and flasks that your raid leaders are always on you to bring to raids and be prepared.
Blacksmithing can be used by smiths to create a wide array of different items. Keys to various places and lockboxes, plate and mail armory, shield spikes, weapon chains, as well as temporary weapon buffing items from stonework. Blacksmiths have the further ability to specialize in a certain weapon or armory to make even more unique armory pieces. Blacksmiths can also socket items of their equipment with further stat enhancers to boost their skills.
Enchanting makes use of magical dusts, essences and shards gathered from disenchanting various items in order to give signifigant bonus's to both armor and weapons of both their own, and other players. This makes them a popular breed of tradeskiller indeed. In addition to permanently buffing other players weapons and armor, they also have the ability to enchant certain pieces of their own equipment with special enchants available only to them.
Engineering gives a player the ability to create all sorts of fun mechanical devices, trinkets, grenades, explosive sheep, and other mechanical pets. Much fun to be had here. One of the costlier tradeskills to master, but well worth the fun in the end.
