However, you need certain things to design your own WordPress theme. In order to create a blog you will need a WordPress theme and it installed on local server. Apart from that, you will need MySQL database installed on the local server. The knowledge in HTML and CSS will be an added advantage. To edit you can use an HTML editor, Dreamweaver and if you do not have access to them then use WordPad. Finally, you will the permission to change the files like the chmod permissions.
First step is to go to the WordPress admin center. You will need to enter your user name and password to enter in to the page. The place to login is mostly like this yourdomainname.com/wp.admin.
The next step is to edit the theme. For that, you need to click on Design and Theme Editor to choose the Style.css. You need to have the style sheet in either Dreamweaver or WordPad. This will be according to your needs and requirements. If you are aware and know the basics of CSS, this will be easy for you to follow the instruction or understand the file easily as external style sheet. The style sheet is normally defined as head, body, footer, navigation and h1, h2, h3 according to the pages.
Now you will need HTML coding for CSS that is already defined in the theme. Then you have to include the CSS in HTML designers. Once if it is included, then you can join the files in to PHP. It is in PHP you will be able to access the CSS files.
