How to Get From Divorce Court back to the Altar After Cheating

When you've been caught cheating your spouse may have you on your way to divorce court. That doesn't mean that you're not more interested in taking a trip back to the altar instead. How do you get her to start singing a new tune of "going to the chapel" instead of crying all the way to her attorney's office?

1) Make an emotional appeal. If you really want to get your wife's attention it's time to throw off the tough guy mantle and make an emotional appeal for her to stay. That doesn't mean it's time for you to go to pieces. It's time for you to appeal to her emotions. One way to accomplish that is by baring your soul to your wife in a way you never have before.

2) Overcome her objections before she voices them. You've got to take all the objections she's sure to come up with and cut them down before she has a chance to bring them up. Tell her, "I know you think you can't trust me anymore but I'm willing to win back your trust however long it takes." Think of other objections she might have and try to figure out a way to take the blow out of the objection or overcome it before it becomes a problem instead of reacting and adapting after she's put up a huge mental roadblock that's going to require wrecking balls to take down.

3) State your case. Tell her what you discovered about your marriage after you cheated. Let her know how much you learned to value her from this experience. Remind her of all the reasons you need her in your life. Let her see just how much she means to you. Ask her for a second chance to be a better husband and show her that you are willing to work as long and hard as you have to in order to make that happen.

4) Be your own character reference. You might feel you're on shaky ground right now when it comes to character. That's guilt talking though. You know that deep down inside you are a good man who loves your wife. Now you just have to show your wife and the world how true that is. Become the husband you've always wanted to be and be the husband she needs you to be. It might be a little late in the game but now is a whole lot better than never.
