Really become a good friend to him, showing the guy that you have a good understand of him and you can be around and not cause any drama. You are trying to want him to want you, but you are also trying to give the guy a feeling that he can't have you right now. A word of caution, I would stay as far away from the bad memories as you can, it will only bring bad vibes, which will not help either one of you.
