How to Know the Right Time and Day for Your Event - 4 Tips
You have heard it said many times in the past that "Timing is everything"
. Guess what? This applies when you have your business networking events as well.
There are a number of different types of networking events to hold for professionals. Because of this fact, it is important for you to plan your particular event on the right date and time. Failure to do so may cause you to reconsider ever having another one again.
In other words, if your event happens to be a failure, you may decide that it was a bad idea. In fact, it's actually a great idea and can be used as a great tool for many purposes. The irony is that it may have turned out to be less then desired simply because of the time and day.
As stated above, "Timing is everything" and simply observing a few key points, can allow you to be right on time. Below, are some things to consider which will help you to time your event just right;
1. What kind of event is it?
As stated earlier, there are many different types of networking events, so take note of the type you are sponsoring. Is it a breakfast meeting? Is it an after work business mixer? These are just a few examples but neither of these would probably work very well on a Sunday morning.
2. What are the time and days of similar events?
Unless your event is completely and totally unique, it's a good idea to look at similar events and the date that they are conducted. In doing so, you may get a better perspective on exactly when to execute your own. However, you may be trying to do something different in the form of contrast. This is just a general rule.
3. What are the probable-average schedules of your attendees?
Any business networking event that you conduct has to have a target market. If it doesn't, you'll be shooting for anyone and everyone to attend. That doesn't sound like a solid and focused business agenda.
Therefore, you must profile your desired attendees and consider what their schedules may be. Are they professional working women who value their weekends? Are they busy entrepreneurs who are more readily available on Saturday mornings?
4. Analyze the ticket sales or sign up rate as the event approaches.
Keep a strong focus on how things are playing out as your event approaches. If you have done the above plus more and you notice a slow or poor sign up rate, the time and date may not be the real issue. There is more to consider.
