How to Make Your Computer Faster Simply and Easily
Sometimes the computer runs so slow that you want to chuck the whole thing, but before you do, try these four things that can make your computer fun faster. They are simple enough for anyone to do. No computer experience needed. Matter of fact, just finding this blog shows you have more than enough computer skills to try these computer fixes.
Change Your History Files
In an effort to make your computer load websites faster, your computer stores images and files for easy access. This way when you go back to a website, it doesn't have to reload everything all over again. To make your computer run faster, lower your browsing history.
FireFox Users -
oClick Tools -> Options -> Privacy Tab
oNext to "Remember my browsing history for at least", change the number to 7 days or less.
oOr uncheck the box altogether - Although this will make loading pages slightly longer than before.
Internet Explorer Users -
oClick Tools -> Internet Options
oUnder the "Browsing History" section, click Delete and then click Settings
oAt the bottom, change the "Days to keep pages in history" to 7 or less

Defragging your computer is like cleaning out your filing cabinet. It needs to be done on a regular basis. Windows provides a free Disk Defragmenter you can use.
Windows XP Users
oClick Start -> My Computer -> Right Click C: Drive ->Select Properties -> Tools Tab -> Defragment Now
Windows Vista & 7 Users

Clean Up Your Computer
Between trash, old programs, internet history and all kinds of little things, your computer will slow down due to old and unused files. Windows recognized the need to clean all this up and put Disk Cleanup on all of their computers. It can take several minutes to compress and actually open and then several more minutes for it to get rid of all the files you select. However, it is worth the time to get rid of these unnecessary files.
Windows XP Users -
oClick Start -> My Computer -> Right Click C: Drive ->Select Properties -> General Tab -> Disk Cleanup
oCheck all the boxes except "Office Setup Files" (if you have Microsoft Office on your computer)
oBefore clicking "OK", it will tell you how much room you are freeing next to "Total amount of disk space you gain"
Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users -
oClick Start -> Type "Disk Cleanup"
oDisk Cleanup should be the only program listed
oIt will ask you to "Choose which files to clean up" -> Choose all users
oClick Continue and Choose C: drive
oCheck all the boxes except "Office Setup Files" (if you have Microsoft Office on your computer)
