All you need is a dish barrel (18x18x28 double walled box) and lots of packing paper or newsprint. If you choose not buy a dish barrel then just use a smaller box about the size of the dish barrel. We sell packing paper AND dish Barrels just visit www.libertybellmoving.com and go to the boxes tab.
Obviously tape the bottom of the box. Make sure to use plenty of tape so the bottom doesn't fall out. Put down 8 pieces of rolled up paper (called bunks) this cushions the bottom of the box. Start with your largest and heaviest dishes on the bottom of the box.
1. Lay dishes on packing paper and wrap each plate in 2 pieces of packing paper.
2. Stack the next plate on the top of the first and repeat step one.
3 Follow this procedure 4 times then wrap 4 plates In 2 more sheets of paper and place in box vertically (not flat )to avoid breakage.
Once the bottom of the box is filled, put down another layer of Bunks and start your next layer of smaller plates following the same procedure as above. Again, generally the heavier items are on the bottom and lighter ones on top.
Once this layer is finished, you can put another layer of BUNKS down and start with your everyday glasses (or tea cups).
Take one glass and LOOSELY roll it up in 2 pieces of packing paper. Insert glass in the upright position in the box and repeat until box is fullthen fill the box with packing paper until full. Tape the box shut.
