How to Prevent a Houston Chevrolet Warranty From Being Voided
How to Prevent a Houston Chevrolet Warranty From Being Voided
When shopping for your next Houston Chevrolet at Ron Carter, one of your top priorities after price is usually the warranty on the vehicle you choose. A warranty is essentially a contract between the vehicle manufacturer and the buyer that outlines what repairs and replacements will be covered by the manufacturer should something go wrong within a specified time period. Any repair work that is covered under the warranty will be paid for by the manufacturer and the vehicle owner will incur no expenses. What some buyers fail to realize is that like most contracts, there are clauses included that can void the warranty if a vehicle owner does not live up to their d of the deal.
In the event there is a problem with your Chevrolet and you bring it in to our Houston Chevrolet service center, we will file a claim under your warranty. In some cases, a claim will be denied. What causes the denial of a warranty claim? Here are some of the reasons:
Environmental Issues
If your Chevrolet is damaged in a flood, tornado, or an earthquake it can render your warranty useless. Check your warranty for the guidelines about Acts of God if some disaster does cause damage to your Houston Chevrolet.
Misusing Your Vehicle
If you use your Chevrolet to race, go off-road riding, or fill it with oversized cargo and something breaks, your warranty coverage could be voided for all necessary repairs. Manufacturers have the right to void a warranty even if there is no concrete proof you misused the vehicle, only if there are signs present.
Collision Accidents
If you are involved in a vehicle accident where your Chevrolet was declared as a total loss, your warranty will not provide repair coverage.
Odometer Modification
If our technicians at Ron Carter Chevrolet can not determine actual mileage on your vehicle because the original odometer has been disconnected or otherwise tampered with, the warranty on the vehicle can be voided completely.
Partial Claim Denial
In some circumstances, certain parts and warranties will not be covered under warranty even though the rest of the labor and parts are covered. In this situation, the vehicle owner will be responsible for out-of-pocket costs not covered and the manufacturer will deny some of the claim.
