How to Protect Data From Intruders and Internet
For all the paranoid internet geeks, who are just wasting time on internet reading the conspiracy theories and enjoying the reports on wikileaks, and all those people with attention deficit disorder. Yesterday I was visiting an old friend of mine, and was smoking joints with him. Though he doesn't know but I sometimes use him as a think tank. While floating in our weedy thoughts. He asked me not to carry my personal stuff in my notebook, as most of the time it is online. He was afraid of the fact that any intruder can get our data as windows is not the most reliable platform.
That made me wonder, if he is true? and after a little research I found out that he is right and that's how we are getting fooled. But on the other hand there was nothing that internet has to offer, besides some crappy firewalls and some other paid stuff, for which u have to learn how to use them.
That made me a little frustrated but as rightly said that necessity is the mother of invention, I started using my mind to find out how I can achieve this goal. After a little thinking I found out a way by which we can secure our files and keeping them portable.
The one thing that comes to my mind which is just a basic idea, to use an offline computer. But will it really be safe enough? Or would it be that portable? The answer is obviously No, because not trusting your computer means you do not trust your OS. What u just need is a cell phone with no internet connection. Yes for this you need a cell phone with file manager and Bluetooth and a sim card with no activation of internet, a sticker with "no internet" or "say no to privacy stealers". The cell phone will acts as your primary data storage, connected to your computer via Bluetooth or data cable, making your things go fine. I personally would like to prefer Bluetooth, as it is not susceptible to any intruder. Bluetooth doesn't support the map drives, or any internet sharing. By this you can easily manage your files even while on the move, and can easily edit your documents. The sticker should be pasted on your phone at the back which will be a reminder for you and other people will take u as a rebellious. But I can bet after reading this article, the so called illuminati developers according to the conspiracy theorist will try to make the Bluetooth drives with sharing support. For then it's the only secure way by which no OS vendor can access your data and it will be easy to edit and ultra-portable. But remember to keep its backup on multiple phone supported memory cards, which is not only easy to do but safe to have. You can copy the data first to the phone memory and then after switching the cards u can copy it to another stick.
Well for that my thumbs are up for Blackberry folks who still are not sharing the encryption key with any network monitoring authority around the globe. But not to worry "where there is a will there is a way".
