If they are not well cut to maximize the natural brilliance and fire of the diamonds, then they will not do their job. You also need to make sure that the two diamonds used in the pair are similarly cut and match each other in size and brilliance. Finally, decide what kind of setting you want, including the choice of metal. Smaller studs can be set in either gold or platinum with push-on backs. For larger studs, upgrading to platinum settings with screw-on backs provides better protection for your investment.
