However, if you want to pursue a more serious and in-depth form of dance, you will need to seek out a reputable dance school with a professional faculty of experienced and knowledgeable teachers. If you've decided to commit to dancing long term then there are some clear cut things you need to look for in a good dance studio that will give you the best chance to succeed in this field.

1. The School's Philosophy

When interviewing schools/studios, (yes, you should read this on the school's website) determine if they have a serious attitude about teaching good dance techniques. Competition in the field of dance education is fierce and it will take a research to determine which school offers the program that will ensure successful learning.

2. Offered courses/classes

Find out exactly what courses and levels the school/studio offers. Some things to check into are group lessons, specialized courses like summer camps and workshops, performing groups. Other courses to look for are dancer's body conditioning lessons such as pilates, yoga etc.that are essential for the dancers' strength and flexibility at the more advanced levels.

3. Adequate Credentials

One of the most important items to look for when selecting a good dance school/studio are the proper credentials that afford the teacher/instructor to teach dance in your selected field. An instructor who does not have the proper credentials, among which education in teaching dance is one of the most important, is a huge risk when it comes to paying good money to learn proper dance style. A dance school/studio with no information on their website about the faculty credentials is a red flag.

4. The Studio's Atmosphere

How you feel in the studio is a very important aspect to consider. Remember, you are going to be spending a great deal of time learning and practicing in that studio. If you don't feel completely comfortable, or you don't feel energized when in the studio, then you should keep looking. It is very difficult to learn new moves and techniques and to push yourself to practice regularly. Feeling out of place in the studio will hinder your ability to reach your potential.

Even professional dance should be enjoyable. If you strongly commit to reaching your highest level of skill and find a good professional school/studio then you can strongly increase your chances of being a successful dancer with a promising and rewarding career and have a lot of fun along the way.
