How to do Project Management
Project management is the discipline of organizing, securing, planning and managing resources to create a successful implementation of project goals and specific objectives. It is sometimes confused with program management, but technically it is actually a high-level structure: a group of projects related to engineering and somehow interrelated.
The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all the objectives of the project and goals, while constraints honor preconceived project. Typical problems are the scope, time and budget. The second and more ambitious challenge is to optimize the integration and allocation of inputs necessary to achieve predetermined goals. The project has been recognized as a separate discipline in the management of the engineering discipline.
Project management includes developing a project plan that includes identification and confirm project goals and objectives, the tasks of identifying and achieving these objectives, quantifying resource requirements and determine budgets and timelines for completion. It also includes managing the implementation of the project plan, with driver fixed "control" to ensure that information is accurate and objective performance "on the plan and mechanisms to implement measures recovery, if necessary. Projects often follow the main stages or steps (with different titles for the second), including feasibility, definition, planning, implementation, evaluation and support / maintenance.
As a discipline, Project Management developed a variety of applications, including civil society, construction, heavy engineering and remedies. Two examples of project management is Henry Gantt, called the father of planning and control methods , which is famous for his use of a Gantt chart, project management tool and Henri Fayol in his creation five management tasks that form the basic body of knowledge related to Project Management and program. Both Gantt and Fayol were students of the theories of Frederick Winslow Taylor's scientific management. His work is a pioneer of modern project management tools, such as working structure (WBS) and resource allocation.
Like any human undertaking, projects to be undertaken and delivered under certain restrictions. Traditionally, these restrictions have been listed as scope, time and costs. Further improvement of the constraints separates the "quality" product or "performance" of the scope and quality are limited in the quarter. All these constraints are often competing constraints and project managers to perform a balancing act between the three, and therefore need specialized tools to help achieve the project objectives.
