Htc Desire Black Edition Is Orange Exclusive
The new HTC Desire is now available in a new black casing alongside the original brown model
, the HTC Desire Black edition takes the same great features, technology and design found in the original handset and encases them in a new, sleek black finish.
One of the most sought after mobile phones on the market, the Desire is proving a problem for many networks and retailers with demand outstripping supply. This is proving to make the new Black HTC Desire even more popular with consumers wanting a little bit of exclusivity.
The main features of this latest HTC phone include a 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen, 5.0 mega pixel camera, a fast 1GHz processor and the very latest Android 2.1 operating system.
Being an Android phone the Desire grants access to over 30,000 new applications and games to download at super fast speeds over 3.5G with HSDPA technology, there is also WiFi and GPS built in for wireless connections and satellite navigation.
The main rival to the HTC Desire is the latest Google phone; the Nexus One. This new handset dubbed the 'Super' phone by Google is actually manufactured by HTC for the search engine giant and in our honest opinion falls short in terms of features when compared to their own Desire model.
The Nexus One opts for the older style trackball for physical navigation of its menu system, however this is not overly needed as multi touch screen technology means that the user can access everything via the main screen.
The HTC Desire replaces the trackball with an optical trackpad which allows you to simply swipe your finger across rather like an optical mouse. The Nexus One also does not support Flash 10.1 out of the box whereas the Desire does and HTC's own handset runs the Sense user interface which many claim to be one of the best on the market.
The Black HTC Desire is a network exclusive handset on the Orange network, this means that for a limited time period consumers will only be able to connect this latest Android phone to Orange contract deals. After this initial exclusive period has ended other network operators will be able to pick up the new black edition Android phone and we suspect that it will emerge as a SIM Free device very soon as well.
HTC have had a busy year so far launching a number of new models including the recently released HTC Legend which runs on the same Android 2.1 OS but slims down the dimensions of the Desire and offers a 3.2 inch touch screen - it is actually the upgrade for the previous Hero handset.
More recently, the manufacturer has made available their new HTC HD Mini phone which is a more compact version of the extremely popular HTC HD2, both are Windows powered devices but the new HD Mini sheds weight and mass to offer a 3.2 inch touch screen over the massive 4.3 inch of the HD2 making for a more pocket friendly device.
There is also a new silver edition HTC Desire on its way although there are no confirmed release dates as yet.
