Htc Hd Mini - Compact Yet Fully Loaded

Since its release in early 2010, the HTC HD Mini has proven to be a popular smartphone

, and for good reason. Despite its compact size, it has still managed to provide a spec list that many larger phones would envy.

The HTC HD Mini utilises a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen (320x 480 pixel layout) to provide a dynamic and intuitive means of navigating the HTC Sense user interface. This is a highly customisable user interface which offers many options to the user. For example, the user can set multiple homescreens with the applications and widgets of their choice.

Obviously, the HTC HD Mini is a compact smartphone with dimensions of just 103.8x 57.7x 11.7mm and an impressively light weight of just 110 grams. Its appearance is minimalistic and modern with a sturdy and durable feel in the hand, as it is a well built unit and is finished in the same soft touch material as the HTC Desire and Wildfire. The front of the phone is dominated by the screen with a number of capacitive buttons located just below this.

Thanks to a micro SD slot, expandable memory of up to 32GB can be gained by installing a memory card. This allows plenty of storage for data such as media files and documents. In terms of entertainment, the HTC HD Mini certainly delivers. As well as the versatile internal media player which accommodates many different file formats of both music and video files, there is also a stereo FM radio player with RDS and a selection of pre-installed games. Social networkers are also well catered for with FaceBook and Twitter apps which allow users to instantly access their accounts and profiles making it easy to stay up to date with friends and family.

To connect to the internet, the HTC HD Mini utilises an HSDPA connection in areas covered by 3G with speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps being available, and Wi-Fi access whenever the phone senses an available wireless network. To browse the web, Opera Mobile is the browser of choice which provides an excellent browsing experience.

The HTC HD Mini has a pre-installed 5MP camera which is ideal for those who like to take spontaneous snapshots as well as those who take their mobile photography more seriously. A number of tools such as autofocus and touch focus provide the means of improving the quality of photos while simultaneously simplifying the task of taking them. The camera can also shoot video in VGA quality at a rate of 30 fps offering an alternative method of image capture.

Thanks to its smartphone spec list with its surprisingly compact dimensions it is easy to see why the HTC HD Mini is a winner, and it looks set to remain a popular handset for the foreseeable future.
