The success and failure is always depends upon the efficiency of human resources department of that organization as well as quality of employees. The employees are always valuable asset of the organization. They are the backbone. In olden days the H.R.M department was in operation which was belongs to only recruitment, selection and pay wages and salaries to their employees. In today's era this department is known as H.R.D which is called as Human resources Department. The function of this department is related not only recruitment, selection but also expands up to development of employee in that organization. But in this context of H.R.D the one more concept is out coming i.e Human Resources Research.
As the scope of research was belongs to only marketing, operation, system, finance and other relevant areas. Now it has been entered in the field of also Human resources department. The term research refers to find out the problem, diagnose it and apply the solution to the problem. The research is a systematic process. It includes certain steps. The task of searching for and analyzing facts and finding out solution is called as personnel research or Human Resources Research ( HRR). In other words, it can be explained as searching investigations, re-examination, re- assessment and revolutions. It is purposive and systematic investigation designed to test considered hypothesis or thorough framed questions.
Features of Human Resources Research : The HRR is characterized by certain features. They are
It is purposive.
It is Objective.
It is systematic involving a comprehensive design. The investigations are conducted on their basis of design or plan.
It is planned systematic designed investigation and fact findings.
Objectives of Human Resources Research : As the primary objectives of the HRR is to evaluate the present practices and policies against the HR objectives there are some important objectives. They are as 1. To evaluate the present practices, policies, conditions. 2. To predicate future events and conditions. 3. To appraise proposal in respect of HR policies. 4. To evaluate and review linkage between organizational strategies and HRM strategies. 5. To modify and amend existing HR practices as per need or replace with new practices.
Is HRR essential in organisation ?
The answer for this question is YES' ! As the HRD plays vital role in the development of employee as well as of the organization there is a huge requirement of to conduct research in various fields. There are certain points which are considered for the purpose of HRR. They are just like recruitment, selection process, training and development programme objectives, nature, types, performance appraisal report, orientation programme, discipline records, health and safety records, industrial grievance procedure etc. These all data are kept in proer manner so as to offer and consider the future benefits like transfer, promotion and offer the higher pay wagers etc.

Preparing or formulating objectives of research.
Designing the project.
Choice of Methodology.
Data collection- through various methods.
Critical analysis of data.
Interpretation, findings, report writing.
