But this condition can stimulate growth of algae, that can compete in absorbing water, nutrients and oxygen. Algae will absorb a fraction of nourishment that will result in deficiencies.

Hydroponic plants have very small chance to survive when the root zone is in bad shape. A limited supply of oxygen can result in suffocation. As the roots get weaker, the rate of nutrient absorption gets lower and lower. The water gets stagnant and may lead to rotting of the root, and plant growth weakens caused by dehydration. The roots' color will then change from healthy white to dried out brown.

Of course, the aeroponics approach can optimize oxygenation but the result can result in more problems and you can put your plants at high risk of becoming fragile.

How You Can Keep the Roots in Healthy Condition

It's important for you to keep an eye on the pH level of the nutrient solution. It will figure out how healthy the roots are. Litmus paper can be utilized as an alternative tester but take note that the result may not be very precise. For some growers, it's most effective to utilise a small tube then fill it up with nutrient solution and add a few drops of chemical indicator.

The size of the roots can vary on what you want to grow, from seedling to fruit, and the moment will come that you are going to be transplanting your hydroponics plants.

When doing that, be careful while keeping the roots hydrated as possible.

When the flow of absorption is blocked, the roots position can be adjusted but be cautious as any movement can cause damage.

To obstruct light, just replace transparent containers with darker colors.
