I-595 Closures Will Make Travel To And From Port Everglades Difficult, But May Reduce Accidents
span>Share:
Port Everglades residents are well aware of the fact that when they get on I-595, they are often taking their life in their own hands. As congestion on the Interstate has increased over the past decade, so have the number of serious traffic accidents. In an effort to alleviate the over-crowding and to reduce the number of Port Everglades accidents, the Florida Department of Transportation is making major improvements to the roadway and several area on-ramps.
The biggest impact on Port Everglades that the improvements will have will be when the Interstate and University Drive are completely shut down to allow workers to raise the flyover ramp to eastbound I-595. The flyover will be jacked up off of its foundation so that it can be extended and connected to the new lanes that will ease traffic in the area and hopefully reduce the astronomical number of Port Everglades accidents that have been occurring there.
Officials anticipate that the complete closure of the Interstate will occur over a weekend, but it will still have a huge affect on Port Everglades and the surrounding areas since it is the main thoroughfare for motorists traveling to and from the airport, to and from Port Everglades, as well as those trying to get to Sawgrass Mills and the IKEA outlet. Officials hope that the entire I-595 project will be complete by March 2014, perhaps sooner if the weather cooperates.
Even if the lane additions and ramp shifts on I-595 successfully reduce the number of Port Everglades accidents and accidents in the surrounding area, the sad reality is that no road improvements are going to eliminate accidents altogether. Regardless of how well engineered and planned out the on-ramps and flyovers are, there are drivers who will still be inattentive, negligent, reckless, or impaired who will cause accidents. Unfortunately, those accidents will often result in injuries to innocent individuals who were following the rules of the road in trying to get from one point to another.
When those kinds of accidents occur, it is important for any injury victims to contact an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can work to make sure that those who are injured get all the diagnostic tests necessary to accurately determine the scope and extent of the injuries. Proper treatment depends upon an accurate diagnosis and injury victims are often misdiagnosed in the initial days following Port Everglades accidents, delaying treatment that is crucial. Do not let an accident rob you of your health and your freedom, consult with an attorney in the Port Everglades area today to get the help that you need.
