I Want To Be Vegan But Its Too Expensive

Making a healthy dietary transition such as the transition to a vegan diet does not have to put you in the poor house

. Furthermore, if you believe that you are already in the poor house it doesnt have to lead to more poverty. Being on a plant-based diet isnt any more expensive than being on a meat-based diet. A vegan diet just takes a little more time and planning.

For instance, there are several things that you can do to reduce the cost of being a vegan. For starters you can cook more. Preparing more home-cooked meals means that you are buying less processed, which is significantly more expensive than whole foods, and that you are eating out less, which can also be quite costly. Another suggestion is that you buy foods that are in season since seasonal foods are always less expensive than foods not in season. You can also sign up for coupon specials and visit the food manufacturer websites for coupons.

Other suggestions include store-hopping, buying in bulk and meal planning. Store-hopping is a good strategy in urban areas because there will likely always competitive pricing, which is to your benefit. In fact, international grocery stores often have better prices so if you have one in your area you may want to check it out. Buying in bulk is a great strategy where feasible because bulk is usually cheaper. Last but not least, plan meals before shopping and make a grocery list. You would be amazed at how much more you spend when you shop without a grocery list.

This is just an abbreviated list of suggestions so try implementing these and some of your own and see the impact that it has on your budgeting and shopping regimen. Just imagine how many meals you get from a bag of beans at $2 a bag versus a pound of ground meat at $5. More than that think of the health benefits of doing so.

Being vegan does not have to be expensive. Besides, when you factor in the cost of doctor visits and prescriptions needed to treat illnesses associated with meat-based diets it all balances out. Sure a pack of faux meat costs a bit more than a pack of lunch meat or maybe even more than a pound of ground meat. However, that is an exception. On the other hand, beans, rice, and fresh veggies are a lot more versatile and significantly cheaper than processed food or a pound of beef. Most importantly, your health is worth the minimal investment of a few extra dollars at the check-out counter because good health is priceless. When your health deteriorates you begin to realize the value of it and the importance of doing what you can to preserve it. So dont let money be the reason that you steer away from making this extraordinary dietary transition. In the end your body and your bank account will thank you for this healthy lifestyle.
