Calm down. I know it's overwhelming being an internet marketing newbie.The language alone has so much terminology that it's hard to keep up with all of it. I'm going to help clear some of this up so that you can have a better understanding of it and can move on to working in the industry and being successful. Let me give you some of the terms and their definitions.

Internet The Internet is a global computer network. It's a network that links computers all over the world by satellite and telephone. It connects users with networks such as World Wide Web and email. It started off as a method of connecting military computers.

Internet Marketing Internet marketing is also referred to as online marketing or e-marketing. It refers to the marketing of products both digital and retail and services over the World Wide Web. Many companies realize that the reach of their products need to be extended and are willing to have people like ourselves market their products for them. Internet marketing includes such activities as promoting websites, articles, blogs, E-Mail marketing, and Pay Per Click marketing.

Keywords A keyword is a word or phrase that is used in performing a search. It is what a person would type into the search engine (such as Google or Yahoo) to find the information they are looking for.

Affiliate Marketing This where a company rewards someone for getting a person to their website and getting them to perform a certain action. In most cases this action would be purchasing a product. Each affiliate is provided a unique link for them so they can be rewarded when the action is performed.

Pay per click (PPC) is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites/blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser's website. Advertisers bid on keywords they predict their target market will use as search terms when they are looking for a product or service.

Niche Market Is a focused, targeted portion of a market sector. It is a narrowly defined group of potential customers. This is a market that is not normally targeted by the mainstream. Bigger companies may ignore these smaller markets but these specialized areas may of great value to smaller companies.
