INDIA'S POISON AGRICULTURE-AN INSIGHT TO THE DEATH MACHINE

INDIA'S POISON AGRICULTURE-AN INSIGHT TO THE DEATH MACHINE

The way lifestyles are changing in urban India, people are looking out for quick, easy and convenient two minute methods of consuming healthy yet toothsome food for any price which is today in India a near impossible dream. On the other hand in rural India people do not even get two straight meals a day forget even thinking about health.

Agricultural sector is India's largest employer and supporter of the rural population of the country. It is the pride of the nation turning into a possible root cause of disease and epidemic.

The fact is that the Green Revolution (1940s 1970s) changed the way of agriculture from the slow, inefficient, low productive traditional methods to modern methods. The methods involve the development of high-yielding varieties of cereal grains, expansion of irrigation infrastructure, and distribution of hybridized seeds, synthetic fertilizers, and pesticides to farmers to get more yield out of lesser land and time. Now there are also other developments in the field of agriculture like GMO (genetically modified) vegetables and harmful growth hormones for example Oxytocin, originally used to help in the process of female reproduction, are used on plants which have been claimed to make vegetables grow double in size overnight! Unfortunately the green revolution which aimed to be a boon is now the root cause for inorganic food in India as well as infertility of the nutrient rich Indian soil.

The exploitation of soil in India by the misuse of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers, hormones like Oxytocin, and what not is now the cause for diseases like diabetes in kids, cancer, skin disease, an article on www.herbs2000.com said, I quote--

The World Health Organization that makes an approximation that over 200,000 people are killed owing to the toxicity of these dangerous chemicals world-wide every year. In fact, the casualty figures do not tell the real picture about the vast impact of the poisoning caused by these poisonous chemicals. Pesticides lead to over three million poisoning cases annually. Exposure to these pesticides or hazardous chemicals leads to several health problems that range from asthma attacks, skin rashes as well as chronic disorders like emphysema and cancer...'

The hiccup is that this clearly suggests that these sumptuous and attractive looking vegetables, almost more than 99% of them produced in India for human use, are as good as slow venom and biological magnification occurs from plants to humans or through other sources such as cow's milk, chicken, meat, seafood, not to mention breast milk- even though it is debatable but traces of these slow poisons are found in breast milk, claim studies.

Urban consumers and many who can afford alternates have switched on to so called organic' products and other imported organic, canned vegetables, like the Liv Minola vegetables launched in May this year, but the truth really is that, even though India is one of the most important economies in the world and one of the most populated in the world, 75.6% of Indians earn less than around $2 or Rs.100* a day out of which 41.6% live around under $1.25 or Rs.62.5* a day and thus because of the prominent poor population of India and high prices of organic products, the mass populations mainly in rural India cannot afford their own health not to mention expensive life insurance, doctors fees and medicines because people would rather go to a private institution against the unreliable and commonly not so trusted government medical institutions .

These conditions just prove that we are heading towards the lions mouth readily and that the look so fresh and exquisite vegetables are actually what you need to trigger off your journey to paying god a visit. The fact is that it is time to make an alteration in the system of agriculture by having a possible governing body to create and implement rules and regulations to organize agriculture and turn it from a turning liability into an asset for overall development of the nation and the world as India is one of the largest producers of many fruits, vegetables, and grains. Begin a journey towards health yet again.
