If My Shipment Is Delayed, Will I Be Notified?
Courier status updates are a very important part of the courier industry
. Almost no one is willing to ship something with a courier company and to just sit back and assume that it will arrive safely. This is why most courier service Illinois companies have such comprehensive and useful programs in place for their customers to track their packages online. However, this is not always good enough, and there are certain situations wherein a courier company needs to contact their clients directly in order to notify them of a status shift in regards to their order.
Usually, these are delays which are significant in their scope. A delay which is only going to cause as mall disruption to the courier service is not usually enough to justify a direct contact from the courier company. Small delays happen every day, such as a flat tire, or traffic that is heavier than expected. These types of delays don't ultimately affect the overall delivery time all that much, and so are traditionally ignored.
It is when a delay is more substantial that a good courier company will go out of their way to contact their client. This might include something like when a courier vehicle is in a traffic accident. It might also be a situation where a package has been misplaced for some period of time, or is being held at a border. Any of these situations can cause a delay which the courier's clients are going to need to deal with, so the courier companies will typically contact the clients immediately.
Usually, this means that the courier company will call their client directly. They will sometimes send out emails as well, but usually try to follow this up with a phone call. The reason the phone call is the preferred method of contact in this type of situation is because the courier company wants to know without a doubt that someone at their client company is informed about the delay which has occurred.
Keep in mind that if you do want to know about the smaller delays that might occur to your shipments, then you should regularly check the online status of your shipment. Courier companies will usually update these systems with smaller delays, so they can give you a much clearer picture of any delays which do not meet the criteria for direct telephone notifications. Checking your status online is usually just a matter of entering your reference number on the courier's website.
