If You Hate Playing Golf When The Wind Gets Up Then Please Read On

If you are only just starting to learn to play golf then the last thing you want is bad weather

. It is difficult enough after all getting to grips with the basics of the game in fine weather and virtually impossible if you are trying to do so in a strong wind or in the pouring rain.

Things start to change however once you have a little bit of experience and confidence and one thing that I love about golf is the fact that the weather can change the playing conditions in a matter of minutes and present you with a new and always different set of challenges. This simply adds to the fun of the game as far as I am concerned and is something to be embraced with enthusiasm.

Therefore, next time you are on the course do not let frustration get the better of you and end your round early but instead carry on and delight in the challenge of the new playing conditions.

Naturally playing in a high wind is not going to lower your score but the trick is to simply realize this fact and not to let it worry you. You do not need to allow the poor weather conditions to stress you out and playing golf in adverse weather is just a matter of adopting a positive mental attitude.

The secret is to expect the wind to do its very best to challenge you at every shot and bring that drive up short or send your perfectly hit approach shot scurrying clear across the green. The wind will try to send your ball in every direction except the one direction in which you want it go and you are going to find yourself slicing and hooking to right and left with quite a few lost balls. But this is no more than the inevitability of allowing the weather in as a playing partner and it can be extremely interesting to pitch yourself against the force of nature.

Yet another secret to playing in adverse weather is to recognize the old adage that the harder you push against something the harder it pushes back. And So, do not attempt to fight against Mother Nature but instead outsmart her and learn to beat her at her own game.

When you are addressing the ball on the tee with a wind blowing across the hole from right to left for example then see just how well you can judge Mother Nature by gauging exactly how far out to the right you need to hit the ball and still get it to land on target.

It is lovely to wander around the course on a sunny and still day with friends but, more often than not, your day will also turn out to be extremely predictable. However, add in a strong wind whipping up the leaves around the course and things can suddenly get a lot more interesting.
