Australia is really not much further when traveling by plane and it has a lot of things going for it that is very appealing to travelers.

No matter where you go in Europe, there is probably going to be a high ticket price. But, there are a plenty of places that you can visit and enjoy in Australia without spending too much money.
Brisbane is a good city to visit when traveling to Australia. It is such a good destination because it has so many diverse attractions nearby. The city is full of lovely parks and biking trails to enjoy. It is quite close to beautiful beaches and lush rainforests as well. Besides all the natural attractions there are museums and shopping all through the city. Many of the museums are free too.
Brisbane has a nice string of events and festivals. Most of them are free. There are even concerts in the park where people picnic and bring blankets to sit on. There is so much going on, that you will want to check the schedule of events before you plan to visit.
Brisbane has an excellent public transportation system, but renting a car is not a bad idea. If you hire a car you will be able to explore the surrounding areas. It is not far to Queensland with all of it's stunning beaches. There is all the wilds of the Hinterland and many small towns in between to check out.
